Similarly, you will be expected to attend all classes. Not only will exam materials be covered inclass but exercises will occur. If you have to be absent (illness, injury, etc.) be considerate and notify meas soon as possible. Two points will be deducted from your attendance score for each unexcused absence. You should not come to class late. This is inappropriate and unprofessional. However, if you have alegitimate reason for being late or have to leave a class early, you should notify me in advance. One pointwill be deducted from your attendance score for each unexcused late arrival. Students who have a perfectattendance score (this means NO absences or late arrivals at all -including excused or unexcused) willreceive a 5% bonus added to the attendance score at the end of the semester.Class participation from your end is indispensable from a learning point of view - both for you and yourclass mates. While adequate participation may earn you the assigned points, not participating may affectyour overall grade. Unless under extenuating circumstances, please read assigned material before classand make every effort to participate in class discussions.AssignmentsAll assignments with more than one page must be either stapled, or paper clipped. Papers which arefolded over or corners torn to keep pages together are NOT acceptable. All assignments should also betyped, with double spaced 12 pitch type. Assignments that do not meet this requirement or those that donot follow respective instructions will receive an automatic 10% deduction. Late assignments will bededucted 10% for each 24 hour period after collected until no points remain.Exams Two exams will be given. Both exams will include essay and objective questions. Dates for the exams arelisted on the schedule page. Make-up exams are not offered so make whatever arrangements are necessaryto ensure your attendance on those two days. Any conflicts with other exams in the finals week should bereported to the instructor at least one week prior to the examination to qualify for an alternative test date. Academic Dishonesty Guidelines: (from Academic Affairs website, revised May 2003)Students at the University of Missouri-St. Louis are expected to exhibit the highest standards of academicintegrity. An act of academic dishonesty is an offense against the university. For that reason, universityrules prescribe disciplinary as well as academic consequences for academic dishonesty.
