Homework #2, p. 68-71, due Thursday, Sept. 9 at 5 p.m. in the helproom mailboxes: Do the problems listed below. Each problem is worth 3 points. P5 (write sentences), P7 (say why), P11 (do the experiment, write the words on a piece of paper and look at them in a mirror. Assume the word is reflected horizontally so "bib" becomes "did" not "pip."), P12, (draw the ray tracings, see Fig. 2.22 in the text for an example, be neat), P13 (begin by copying the figure in the text), P21, P26 (where does the sun rise?), PH2 (use whole sentences for b and c). PH6, PH12, PH13 (try it!), PM2 (speed has units like furlongs per fortnight, but index of refraction is simply a number that does not have units.) B has the largest image when the ray tracing is done. B is pointing up because the ray tracings show that the image is upside down. and other similar answers. P21.
