Wind as a flow of aira. Very important for erosion, major driver of processes in desert environment. b. All flow is turbulent, rather than rivers that was mostly laminar. c. Because of the air’s turbulent nature, particles in sand are moved around with a certain ease. 1930s dust bowl—not confined to only desert regions. III. Wind as a transport agent- a. Particle size is the same in streams—you need higher velocity air to move large particles. Wind will not move boulders though! b. Dust blowing off Africa toward northern Europe. Can actually end up in north Texas! c. You need to have a surface where the particles aren’t bound by anything like vegetation; otherwise wind won’t lend itself to surface erosionThese notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture. GradeBuddy is best used as a supplement to your own notes, not as a substitute.d. It’s not the wind that erodes things but what the wind carried that erodes things.IV.
