Writing Response Thinking about Conflict In the content I reviewed regarding types of conflict it discussed various forms of conflicts such as person vs person person vs society person vs nature and person vs self After analyzing my narrative I have identified that the type of conflict present is indeed person vs self making it an internal conflict The presence of this internal conflict in my narrative is crucial as it adds depth and complexity to the protagonist s character development It allows readers to delve into the inner struggles thoughts and emotions of the main character creating a more intimate connection between them and the story This conflict is present because the protagonist is facing inner turmoil or dilemma within themselves They might be dealing with issues like self doubt fear guilt or conflicting desires It could be a battle between their aspirations and insecurities or a struggle to make difficult choices Pinpointing this internal conflict is important because it helps provide clarity and direction to the overall narrative arc By understanding what lies at the core of the protagonist s struggle I can effectively develop their character growth throughout the three microstories To develop this central conflict through my three microstories the bus stop the coffee shop and the park bench I will focus on exploring different facets of the protagonist s internal struggle in each setting For instance in the first microstory set at a bus stop I can depict moments where the protagonist grapples with indecision or doubts about taking a certain path in their life This could be shown through their interactions with strangers waiting at the same bus stop who offer contrasting perspectives or advice In the second microstory set at a coffee shop I can delve deeper into the protagonist s conflicting desires by showcasing their internal dialogue or monologue while sipping on their drink Perhaps they are torn between pursuing a stable career versus following their passion but worry about societal expectations or financial stability Lastly in the microstory set at a park bench I can portray the protagonist engaging in introspection and self reflection They might be contemplating their past choices questioning their identity or attempting to reconcile their conflicting emotions By weaving these internal conflicts throughout the microstories I can create a cohesive narrative that explores the protagonist s personal growth struggles and eventual resolution Each microstory will contribute to their development by presenting different facets of the conflict while providing opportunities for reflection decision making and self discovery Overall pinpointing the presence of person vs self conflict in my narrative allows me to delve into the depths of my protagonist s inner world and effectively develop their character arc through the three microstories
