Ritual is acting out of a specific established procedure III. Popular Entertainment a. This includes movies, concerts, Blue Man Group, etc. IV. Theater: The Basicsa. Theater is a collaborative form of fine arts that uses live performers to present the experience of a real or imagined event before a live audience in a specific place. b. In order for something to be theater it: i. Has to be liveii. Needs to have a live audienceiii. Happens at a specific placeiv. Is collaborativev. Presents the experiencevi. Is a real/imagined eventc. Stage is where a performer does performance d. The House is where the audience gatherse. Backstage is where performers wait for entrances and where technicians carry out their workf. Wings are where actors wait for entrances; located immediately offstageg. Apron is an extension of the stage; located closer to the audienceh.
