This is a fourth engineering math course with a technology component. Analytical, numerical, graphical, and qualitative methodswill be employed. The class meets three times a week in lecture.2. In addition to hand (paper-and-pencil) techniques, you will may a TI-Nspire CAS Handheld calculator. In this regard, stop by myQENG 171 office as soon as possible to obtain the latest versions of the TNS-CAS operating system (2.1) and my TAMUDFEQpackage (1.4). A full set of streaming videos illustrating use of the calculator in differential equations is available on our classweb page.3. We will occasionally use MATLAB for numerical solutions and graphics; [selected] MATLAB videos are available.Use MATLAB in the computer labs on the second floor of the TAMUQ building. It is also available via Citrix.4. Please be on time to class. Make sure that you have read the relevant section in the textbook beforehand.5. Make-ups for exams will be given only in the case of absenses authorized under University Regulations.6. There are NO makeups for quizzes. However, the lowest two quiz scores will be dropped.7. I grant you permissionto make ONE copy of each document for your personal use. These materials will help to summarize and consolidate theextensive readings in your textbook. In addition, both hand and MATLAB examples are provided. That said, you must read andstudy your textbook! It provides greater depth and many more examples than are in the lectures.10. At all times, I expect you to be prepared and to work hard; you can expect the same from me. Each student will be judged on theindividual merit of his or her own work.11. Focus areas within this definition arewriting, math, and science. Ancillary skills, such as applied technology, college success strategies, multi-media applications, business and personal communication, computer-assisted language learning, career-building activities, and peer interaction arealso part of the mission of the center as they are appropriate to the total professional development of engineering graduates. Thedepartment’s tutors work with students both on-site and online (writing only) and the offices are located in suite 310, near thelibrary.
