This course is a study of angular measures, functions of angles, identities, solutions of triangles, equations, inverse trigonometric functions, and complex numbers. You may choose your own graphing calculator model; however, TI 83 or TI 84 version is preferred. Graphing Calculators may not be allowed during some examinations. GRADING POLICY: The course grade will be determined as follows. Three tests and a Final Exam will be given. The average of the tests will count as 55% of the course grade, 20% will count on-line MyMatLab Homework and the Final Exam will count as 25%. GRDFl = 0.55*(T1+ T2 + T3 )/3 + 0.20*HW+0.25*TFl GRADING RATIONALE: The Final Grade is Converted to A Letter Grade as: 90 - 100 = A 80 - 89 = B 70 - 79 = C 60 - 69 = D 50 - 59 = F POLICY ON MISSED TESTS AND ASSIGNMENTS: MAKEUPS None will be Given. If you miss a Test, a Zero will be given for that Test. If a student miss a test by reason he has to take this test at different time as soon as possible. The Final Exam score will be substituted for the lovest Test Grade but not for Zero grade of missed Test. One-Two Points may be added for perfect attendence and Participation. ATTENDANCE POLICY: You are expected to regularly attend all classes in which you are enrolled. Sec. 51.911 TX Educ. Code. DROP POLICY: To drop a class or withdraw from the college, students must follow the prescribed procedure. It is the student’s responsibility to drop or withdraw. Failure to do so will result in receiving a performance grade, usually grade of “F”. No drop or withdrawal requests are accepted by telephone. Students who drop a class or withdraw from the College before the semester deadline receive a “W” (Withdraw) in each class dropped. The deadline for receiving a “W” is indicated on the academic calendar and the current class schedule. If you are unable to complete this course, you must withdraw from it by April 12. STOP BEFORE YOU DROP SIX DROP RULE: For students who enrolled in college level courses for the first time in the fall of 2007, Texas Education Code 51.907 limits the number of courses a student may drop. You may drop no more than 6 courses during your entire undergraduate career, unless the drop qualifies as an exception. Your campus counseling/advising center will give you more information on the allowable exceptions. Remember that once you have accumulated 6 non-exempt drops you cannot drop any other courses with a “W”. Therefore, please exercise caution when dropping courses in any Texas public institution of higher learning, including all seven of the Dallas County Community Colleges. INCOMPLETES An incomplete grade of “I” may be given when an unforeseen emergency prevents you from completing the work in a course. The “I” must be converted to a performance grade (A-F) within 90 days after the first day of classes in the subsequent regular semester. If the work is not completed after 90 days, the “I” is converted to a performance grade, usually an “F”. An Incomplete Contract is used to assign an incomplete grade and states the requirements for the satisfactory completion of the course. The Incomplete Contract must be agreed upon and signed by the Instructor, the student, and the division dean and submitted with the final grade report. When an Incomplete Contract must be submitted without your signature, the instructor must include a statement indicating that you are aware of and agree with the contract.
