The total possiblepoint score will come from the following items: (i) 7 quizzes (drop lowestone), worth 20 points each, (ii) 4 Tests, worth 70 points each, and (iii) 1uniform final exam, worth 200 points. Thus, 6 * 20 + 4 * 70 + 200 = 600. Everystudent in this class will receive a grade point average at least as high as hisRGPA ("raw grade point average"). To determine your RGPA, compute the percentageof points you earned (by dividing your total point score by 6), and use thefollowing scale:90-100=4.085-89=3.5 80-84=3.0 75-79=2.570-74=2.0 65-69=1.5 60-64=1.0 00-59=0.0No make-ups for the quizzes. Make-ups for the tests and the final exam will notbe permitted except for a severe medical problem or dire family emergency. Awritten note from an appropriate person is required. If at all possible, youshould contact the instructor before the missed test. A missed test or final examwill receive the score 0.Quizzes and Tests: 7 quizzes and 4 tests will be given in the lecture. For thedates, please see Announcements. Final Examination: Monday, December 08, 10:00am -12 noon for a uniform finalexamination for all sections of MTH 132. Examination rooms will be announced bythe instructor during the last week of classes.Homework: You should work out the exercises at the end of each section. Yoursolutions of these exercises will not be collected. However, you are stronglyencouraged to do homework since it can help you prepare the quizzes and tests.Gateway Exams All students in Math 132 are required to pass two Gateway Exams(Times are approximate).Exam 1: Algebraic Manipulation: Sept 6 - Sept 29. Exam 2: Differentiation and Integration: Oct 2 - Oct 27.If you pass the gateway exams, 20 points will be added to your score; if you failit or do not take it, 10 points will be deducted from your score. The first gateway exam deals with prerequisites for this course only. Failure topass the first gateway exam is a strong indication that you are notprepared for this course.Syllabus of MTH 132http://www.math.msu.edu/~wenyuanwu/Syllabus.html第1页 共2页 2008-8-21 16:15Mathematics Learning Center This is an extra resource for the mathematicsstudents. The remainder will be questions of aconceptual nature drawn from the lecture notes and text material. After thegraded test is returned to you, it is your obligation to learn how to solve eachtest question you missed (please see solutions).Grade-change Policy: If you have any questions regarding the grading of any ofyour examinations, you should speak with me about your concerns during my officehours. All writing must be incomplete sentences employing standard English and mathematical symbols. Go to office hours with prepared questions and/or examples of your attemptsat the material.Study groups are encouraged. However, all work not designated as group workmust be substantially the student's own work. It is a fundamental rule inacademia that another's work must be acknowledged. The text for the course is the primary resource.
