Buying a paper copy is optional. The solution manual is alsooptional but will give detailed solutions to the odd problems. The computer labs will use the textbook: Matlab: AnIntroduction with Applications 5th edition, by Amos Gilat, published by Wiley. ISB N: 9781118629864.PREREQUISITE: MATH 151 o r equivalent. Credit will not be given for both MATH 152 a nd 172.COURSE CONTENT: Integration techniques and their applications (area, volumes, arc length, work), improperintegrals, analytic geometry, vectors, infinite series, power series, Taylor ser ie s, computer algebraGRADING POLICY: Your g rade will be determined by three exams, a cumulative final exam, and a laborato rygrade(quizzes, computer labs, and electronic homework). The weights for each of these are as follows. The weightsfor each of these are a s follows. You will also have quizzes during the lecture part of the class. At least one quiz gradewill be dropped when computing the quiz average.3 Exa ms 50% Exam 1: October 2 A = 90-1 00Homework Average 10% Exam 2: October 30 B = 80-89Quiz Average 10% Exam 3: Dece mber 2 C = 70-79Matlab Assignments 5% D = 60-69Final Exam 25% F = 0 -59Total 100%Final Exam ScheduleSection 501-503: Tue sday, December 16 fro m 8:00am - 10:00am.Section 504-506: Monday, December 15 from 8:00am - 10:00am.Section 510-512: Tue sday, December 16 fro m 3:30pm - 5:30pm.EXAMS: The exams will be held at night from 7:30-9:30. Calculators will NOT be allowed on the exams. A makeupcan be taken if you miss the exam for an university a pproved reason. The makeups a re scheduled by the department.The times and locations will be provided if needed. The final exam will be co mprehensive. Once an exam is retur ned,I will not give a makeup for that exam. If you b e lieve that you have a va lid reas ons for receiving a makeup after theexams have be en returned, then talk to me. Any question r egarding grading/scoring must be done within one weekof the return of the exam or no change to the grade will be made.QUIZZES: I will give quizzes during the lectures. There will also be weekly quizzes in your lab. I will drop at lea stone of the quiz g rades when calculating the quiz average.ELECTRONIC HOMEWORK: The electronic homework will be worked and submitted in the WebAssign system.The homework for a section will be due 3 days after the lecture over that material is completed. For any assignment,you may request an extension of two days. There will be a penalty fo r any problems submitted during the extensionperiod. At least one homeworkassignment will be dropped when c omputing the average.MATLABS: You will have weekly computer a ssignments using MATLAB. A link to this review(as well as links to previous reviews) will be posted on my web page. The time and locationare still being determined and will be posted on my web page and the departmental web page.ATTENDANCE, ABSENCE, and MAKEUP WORK POLICIES:• Attendance is strongly encouraged.• You will only be allowed to makeup an exam or a quiz for a university excused absence(see the University StudentRules for a list of the excus ed absences). Proof must be shown before any makeup is allowed.• Electronic homework assignments can not be submitted after their due-date/extended due-date.
