Define the key terms found in each assigned chapter. 2. Define the family. 3. Discuss changes occurring that affect the structure of families and women’s health care as a whole 4. Discuss health promotion for women and differentiate and discuss the risk factors which specifically affect women’s health. 5. Define and describe ethically and evidentially based nursing practice. 6. Discuss critical thinking and how critical thinking is involved in caring for women and families. 7. Describe and discuss the rights of all childbearing women. 8. Define “women’s health” and discuss what this definition means to the provision of care to women. 9. Describe and discuss complementary techniques of health care which may be applicable to the provision of health care to women. 10. Describe and discuss various models of health care which may be utilized in the care of women and families. 11. Describe and discuss important screening tools utilized in the care of women. 12. Explain why nurses need to understand nutrition and modifications necessary for different age groups and life circumstances 13. Identify the structures and functions of the female reproductive system and related hormones. 14. Outline the physical, psychological, and emotional changes associated with puberty. 15. Describe the phases of the menstrual cycle, dominant hormones, and the changes that occur in each phase. 16. Explain the purpose of nursing responsibilities associated with gynecological examination and diagnostic studies of the female reproductive tract . 17. Discuss common problems of menstruation 18. Develop a teaching plan for breast self-examination, including rationale, techniques, and reasons for referral 19. Define benign breast disorders, related them to usual age of onset and describe diagnostic procedures used to rule out breast cancer. 20. Describe the incidence, risk pathophysiology, management, and nursing considerations for the patient with breast cancer221. Identify fertility control/contraceptive methods and the nurse’s role when counseling and teaching about fertility control/contraception. 22. Identify medications utilized in the care of women with reproductive concerns, including the trade or brand name, generic name, classification, action, use, usual dosage, route of administration, side effects, and nursing implications. 23. Differentiate the modes of transmission, diagnosis, course, prevention, and treatment of sexually transmitted infections 24. Differentiate and describe the management of infections of the female reproductive tract 25. Describe the physiologic and psychological aspects of menopause 26. Discuss factors which may affect mental health in women. 27. Describe screening tools which may be utilized in the psychosocial care of women. 28. Define the clinical manifestations and treatment of alterations in pelvic support 29. Develop a nursing care plan for a patient with an alteration in pelvic support 30.
