improve the treatment of those animals in the future 3 Analyze how your personal choices and lifestyle can impact the welfare of animals across the nation 4 Describe the impact of the pet industry in this country emphasizing the variety of careers and opportunities that exist for individuals interested in working with companion animals 5 Evaluate your personal feelings and attitudes of the pet overpopulation issue after a visit to a local animal shelter How will you meet these goals 1 Understand the role of companion animals in society today and historically and how these animals contribute to the lives of many different people 3 Hour Exams Multiple choice true false and matching 50 questions 60 minutes Given during regular class period Dates listed in Topic Schedule Questions based on 59pm on the following Monday on Compass Materials will be given to you along with questions to answer Graded on completeness and quality of answers Points can be deducted for grammar spelling See topic schedule for dates assigned and due As materials given relate to the schedule of topics presented during class no late submissions or make ups are given for reflective posts 4 Describe the Paper 50 points and due on October 24th Choose a career related to your current interests major that involves companion animals in some way More specific instructions will be provided on Compass Consider career options throughout the semester 5 Evaluate your personal feelings and attitudes of the pet overpopulation issue after a visit to a local animal shelter Animal Sheltering Paper Personally tour the Champaign County Humane Society Have your assignment signed by a staff member Write a reflection of your experiences at the shelter as they relate to the topics discussed in class
