Carolina Tovar Borrero HDFS 105 Film Analysis April 24 2013 The Bucket List is a film that brings together two very different men through their trials of being terminally ill Edward is a billionaire owner of a hospital and Carter is a man that has had to work very hard for everything he has During the film Carter and Edward begin an adventure together when they are assigned the same hospital room the hospital that Edward owns At first they seem like complete opposites but once they realized that together they would be able to accomplish things that most aren t able to do in a lifetime they put aside their different pasts and started on a journey together Carter and Edward take on life goals to fulfill their lasts months on earth In a very short time they build the special bond of an everlasting friendship Erik Erikson believed that during late adulthood it is important to find meaning and satisfaction in life Cliff Notes 1 This explains why Carter and Edward were so inclined to go along with accomplishing every goal on their bucket list During their diagnosis neither Carter nor Edward went through the complete five stages of dying yet some were met through Carter s family When Carter told his wife about his plan to go through his list with Edward she did not take it well She could not comprehend how Carter could run off with a strange man who had nothing in common with her husband to accept their deaths She was in the denial stage and refused to belief that Carter s condition was actually terminal The other stages include anger bargaining depression and acceptance Edward and Carter s adventures through their bucket list made Carter realize his true loves in his world Because he was able to be away from home and experience things that were so extreme led him to his utter happiness when finally deciding on coming home I believe that Carter s last day would not have been as fulfilled as it was had he not experienced his last couple months the way he had The Bucket List is an inspirational film that demonstrates the idea that you can still achieve your wildest dreams at an old age I believe this is a very informative film for a human development course because it shows the different stages of late adulthood If I created my own personal bucket list it would include visiting each continent besides Antarctica at least once in my lifetime It is my goal in life to simply travel the world Some of my top places I want to visit are Greece Africa and Australia I want to be able to experience new cultures and have an open mind to new experiences in my life I believe the only way to accomplish that is to see the world I get excitement every time I think about a new place to travel or see a picture of a beautiful foreign place My passion in life is to make unforgettable memories with unforgettable people in unforgettable places Works Cited CliffsNotes com Development in Late Adulthood 24 Apr 2013 http www cliffsnotes com study guide topicArticleId25438 articleId 25386 html
