INSTRUCTIONS TO MOUNT YOUR PROJECT FOLDER.We have provided you with online, web-accessible file space for you to build your class projects. Followingare instruction for how to mount this web space to your PC, so that you can save and modify files in this space just as if they were on your own desktop.1. Download and install Kerberos if you don’t already have it, you can find it at:http://www.stanford.edu/services/ess/pc/kfw.html2. Download Stanford’s AFS ftp program, which if you don’t already have, you can find at: http://www.stanford.edu/services/openafs/pc/index.html#downloadNote: you may also want to Download and install Stanford desktop tools, and check the box that you want automatic updates to Kerberos and AFS at: http://www.stanford.edu/services/ess/pc/ Log into Kerberos:Open AFS: You may be required to get a new AFS TokenWithin AFS, Mount volume belonging to… “Group”, and type in “narratives”A Windows explorer folder should pop open to the WWW folder in the narratives group. Then navigate down to your group’s project folder (i.e. optima, greendorm, slavenburg, conx, entertainment-company, gsa-border-station-ny, gsb-auditorium, palo-alto-rail-link, toronto-train-station)Things your group puts in this folder will be visible but not editable to the public. You should build your project Narratives in this folder. Save any of your linked content (i.e. MACDADI team models, preference models, etc) here so you can link to their online url in your narratives.INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOW TO BUILD SHARED NARRATIVESThere are two methods for teams to collaborate on a Narrative. The first is to build one model, containing several Narratives. This means that only one person can build the Model file at any one time. The second is to build several models, each containing one Narrative, with each of these Narratives linking to each other. The following explains how to build narratives in this way.Make a Narrativeand save it in your project folder (I saved this as “sample-macdadi.rdf”)Next, place an html file in the same folder, with the following text. This file becomes a webpage with which people can view your Narrative without needing Narrator. I have placed an example html file in each of your folders, that you should be able to edit in a text editor, and rename and save. Don’t forget to also change the “Value” of the “param” node to the actual name of your groups model file. Next create a new Narrative Model and save it in the same project folder. Now similarly, make a web page which will allow this model to be opened by anyone on the web. Finally, we need to link the higher level MACDADI Narrative, to the lower level Options Narrative. We dothis by Opening up the MACDADI NarrativeEnter in the URL for the webpage you created to open up the Options Narrative: In my case this was:http://www.stanford.edu/group/narratives/classes/08-09/CEE215/Projects/sample/sample-options.htmlNow you can go the following address and view the high level MACDADI Narrative. http://www.stanford.edu/group/narratives/classes/08-09/CEE215/Projects/sample/sample-macdadi.htmlClicking on the Options Node will open the Options Narrative. As you continue to update and save changes to your rdf models, these online versions will be automatically updated to reflect your latest changes. For example, I now want to add previews and content to my Narratives. In this case I want to add a graphic drawing file describing my goal model to the content folder.I also want to add a preview (.png or jpeg file) of the goal model in the perspective-previews folder. Now I want to select the Perspector icon to describe what tool was used to make this model. I go to the following website to look for a collection of previously defined Perspector icons, and select one.http://www.stanford.edu/group/narratives/community/perspector-icons/I copy the url for Yed, and paste it into the Perspector icon url input box.Next I want to link the content to this perspective. I Select Content -> URL And then open a browser to point to the file I want to link. In this case the url for the file is in the content folder of the project:http://www.stanford.edu/group/narratives/classes/08-09/CEE215/Projects/sample/content/GSB_Goals102006Modified.ygf(Right clicking on the file, and you will be able to copy the shortcut)Finally I want to be able to add the preview for the Perspective.Similar to how I added content, I navigated in a browser to http://www.stanford.edu/group/narratives/classes/08-09/CEE215/Projects/sample/perspective-previews/And copied the url of the preview I placed in the perspective-preview folder (described above).I now simply select Model:Save and the model is saved, and webpages that now go to http://www.stanford.edu/group/narratives/classes/08-09/CEE215/Projects/sample/sample-macdadi.htmlwill see the updated
