Political Science 374 American Political Thought Spring 2005 EXTRA CREDIT PACKET There are twelve (12) Extra Credit Exercises in this packet. Each is worth ten (10-points). All students are eligible to submit any five (5) exercises of their choice. Students desiring to submit more than five (5) exercises may petition to do so via e-mail to Dr. Fitzgerald. You should rely upon material contained in the assigned textbook and Course Documents. You may draw upon other material, but this is optional. 1. Lincoln’s contribution to American Civil Religion 2. Theodore Roosevelt’s contribution to American Civil Religion 3. Franklin Roosevelt’s contribution to American Civil Religion 4. John Kennedy’s contribution to American Civil Religion 5. The Constitution, the Court, and Roe v. Wade 9. The Women’s Movement in American Political Thought 10. Justice Marshall and the Constitution in American Political Thought Each exercise requires the submission of a “brief essay.” A brief essay would be approximately 2-3 doublespaced typewritten pages in length. It focuses only on the very most important points to be made. Lengthy introductions and quotations are not needed.NAME: Lincoln Political Science 374 - American Political Thought – Spring 2005 Extra Credit Exercise 1 (10-points) This exercise is to be completed outside class. For full credit it must be turned in to Dr. Fitzgerald’s “374 Extra Credit” box in Political Science (1001 McClung Tower) by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2. Late work will be accepted, but it is subject to a late penalty of 5-points. In order for this exercise to be evaluated it must be returned with your name printed above and with your signature below. No work will be accepted unless a signed honor statement accompanies it. If your work is typed, staple all pages with this exercise in front. Be sure all pages are numbered. If you write your answers by hand, provide them in an examination booklet (blue book) and staple this page to the cover.
