MA 15200 Exam 2 Memo, Summer 2009 1. Exam 2 is during the regular class time on Monday, July 13th in MATH 175 (notice the change in location from regular classroom). You will be given an assigned seat in this lecture hall. It may not be the same seat as for the first exam. 2. You will have the whole 60 minutes to complete the exam. If you arrive late to class, you will only have the remaining minutes of class time to complete the exam. 3. The exam consists of 15 multiple-choice problems. 4. The day prior to the exam (Friday, July 10th) is a review class. The following problems will be good review problems to discuss on that day. (Other questions, such as ones from old exams, may be asked as well.) The best way to study for the exam is to review all of your homework problems. • Chapter 1 (page 157): 23, 24, 27, 31, 33, 34, 37-40 all, 42, 43, 45, 46, 49, 51, 53, 58, 60, 62, 67, 68, 69, 78, 80-83 all • Chapter 2 (page 233): ): 2, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14-16 all, 21, 25, 29-32 all, 33, 36-39 all, 41, 43-45 all, 47, 48, 50-52 all, 54, 70, 72, 74 5. No calculator is allowed for this exam. 6. The Quadratic Formula and the Distance Formula (between two points) will be provided. You must know the formulas for area or perimeter of a rectangle, distance/rate/time, midpoint, slope, point-slope form, slope-intercept form, and general form. You must know the tests for symmetry and the formats for variation equations. 7. If you cannot take the regular exam because of an extenuating circumstance that you are aware of prior to that day, you must notify the instructor within 24 hours of the exam. You must meet with the instructor, Charlotte, in MATH 802 to make arrangements to take an alternate exam. 8. If an emergency occurs, which prevents you from taking the regular exam; you must see Charlotte in MATH 802 as soon as possible. Do not leave a message on her voice mail. You may send an email message to explain what has happened to her. Missing the exam for a non-valid reason may result in a grade penalty. 9. Lessons covered on the exam include lessons 9 through 16. Sections in the book are 1.3 through 1.8 and 2.1 through 2.5 (parts of those sections covered in class). 10. Exams from previous semesters are available on the course web site. These problems may not represent every type of problem that may appear on your exam. They are good for review purposes, but are not a guarantee of what may or may not appear on your exam. (Be aware that exam 2 for some semesters may cover more or less lessons that your exam 2. Some old exams may contain some types of questions that will not be on your exam.)11. You need to bring pencils and/or an eraser with you. 12. Remember to bring your assignment 16 with you to turn
