Chemistry 20L Spring 2006(I) Pre-lab Work (Individual)Chemistry 20L Spring 2006Chemistry 20L Spring 2006 Report Guidelines for Assignment #6 Kinetics Study of Red Food Color with Bleach (The Assignment is provided as a handout.) Pre-lab reports are due at the beginning of each lab section. Pre-lab reports MUST be written inside your lab notebook. (I) Pre-lab Work (Individual) Week 1 Introductory Report Material (includes questions 5 and 6 on the experiment handout). Be sure to include • The title and date of the first period of the experiment • A reference identifying the procedure handout • A short introduction summarizing the goals of the experiment and the techniques that you will use during the first period of the experiment • A brief flow chart summary of the key procedures of the first period of the experiment • MSDS information for Erythrocin B sodium (refer to your MSDS handout for the required items) • Prelab Assignment Questions Answer questions 1-4 on page 3 and 4 of the lab handout. • Data tables as specified in questions 5 and 6 in the “Pre-lab Assignment” Note: Start a NEW page in your notebook for this section. The previous material will be turned in at the beginning of the period; this page will be turned in at the end of the lab period Week 2 Introductory Report Material (includes Pre-lab Assignment question for Week 2 on page 4 of experiment handout.) Be sure to include • The title and date of the second period of the experiment • Your lab partners names and contact information (phone number, or e-mail address) • Your rate trial scheme • The agreed upon allocation of responsibility for the experiment during this period and the report. • A brief flow chart summary of the key procedures of the second period of the experiment • MSDS information for sodium hypochlorite (household bleach) (refer to your MSDS handout for the required items) • Data tables to record the rate data from each trial (each member of the group will record at least two sets of data.Chemistry 20L Spring 2006 Report Guidelines for Assignment #6 Kinetics Study of Red Food Color with Bleach (The Assignment is provided as a handout.) (II) In-lab work: (individual) Data RECORDING: (Individual) Week 1 • Record your partners' names and the agreed upon allocation of responsibility for the experiment and the report. Indicate in whose notebooks the various rate data trials are recorded. All notebooks will need to have at least two trials of original data. • In tabular form record the serial dilution procedure you used including the weight of sample or aliquot volume, volumetric flask size, molar concentration of the resulting solution, absorbance of the solution • In tabular form record the rate trial scheme Week 2 • Record the concentration of the bleach solution. • In tabular format record the time and absorbance readings for each of the rate trials. Be sure the headings for the tables reflect the experimental conditions for the trial, whose notebook the original data are
