Successful completion qualifies the student for EMT Basic Written Exam for National Certification. Texts: 21 22 23 25 26 27 28 29 1. None. Course Competencies: 1. Identify and explain National Registry practical skills testing requirements for students. (I) 2. Identify and explain National Registry practical skills test requ for evaluator. (I) 3. Perform the techniques of initial assessment, SAMPLE(copyright) ( and symptoms, Allergies, Medications, Past pertinent history, Las intake; Events leading up to the present illness, including traum history, focused history, rapid trauma and medical assessment, fo and detailed physical examination, vital signs, and ongoing asses (II) 4. Use mechanical aids for airway, breathing and circulation. (II) 5. Apply techniques to evaluate an unconscious victim. (II) 6. Administer oxygen to a patient suffering from respiratory or card compromise (II) 7. Identify and treat a patient with injuries to the head, neck, and (II) 8. Identify and treat a patient in shock (II) 9. Identify and treat soft tissue injuries (II) 10. Stabilize and splint muscular skeletal injuries in extremities (I 11. Triage and categorize patient care by priorities in a simulated situation. (II) Prerequisite Requirements • None. Corequisites: EMT/FSC104. Requirements for Successful Completion • Successful completion of all required AZ and National Registry practical skills for EMT-B candidates. 30 • Student must pass all required skills within 3 attempts. 31 • Student must not fail four or more skill stations. 32 • Student may not leave the test site until dismissed by the NR exam coordinator. 33 1235 37 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 47 48 49 50 51 52 53 54 55 56 57 58 59 60 61 62 63 64 65 66 67 68 69 70 71 72 73 74 75 76 77 78 79 80 81 82 83 84 85 86 87 88 89 90 91 92 • Student may not enter any skills testing station with any notes, crib sheets, skill sheets, reference 34 materials etc. • Student must acknowledge understanding of NR practical skills testing policies as outlined by the NR 36 and presented by the NR exam coordinator. • Student must arrive on time for EMT104AA. Students who miss the mandatory orientation will not be 38 allowed to participate. Conditions for Dismissal or Academic Probation A student may be dismissed from EMT104AA for any of the following conditions: • Failure to meet any of the above requirements for successful completion of EMT104AA. • Failure to pass a required practical skill within three attempts. • Failure of four or more skill stations. • Any action that jeopardized the safety of students, staff or patients. • Participation in any unwelcome sexual advances or other verbal and/or physical conduct or communications constituting sexual harassment as defined and otherwise prohibited by school policy. Consult the GCC Student Handbook for additional information on this policy. • Any violation of the student disciplinary code, including: 1. Acts of dishonesty, such as furnishing false information or forgery. 2. Cheating on written exams. 3. Disruption or obstruction of classroom instruction. 4. Physical abuse, verbal abuse, threats, harassment, coercion and/or conduct which threatens or endangers the health or safety of any person. 5. Dishonest or deceitful practices on any class assignment, such as written examinations. 6. Any other violation of the student disciplinary code as described in the GCC Student Handbook. Course Schedule / Outline: See Daily Schedule provided by your instructor Grading: EMT104AA is a pass / fail course. Students who successfully complete the required skills per the above stated guidelines and outlined by AZ BEMS and the NREMT will receive a grade of Pass. Failure to meet these guidelines will result in a grade of F. Students must complete EMT104AA successfully in order to receive a passing grade in EMT104. Students are not eligible for certification until both EMT104 and 104AA are successfully completed. The student must successfully complete all final practical skills examinations within three attempts. Failure of four or more final practical skills will result in a failing grade in EMT104AA. Students that do not pass the EMT104AA course may request a grade of Incomplete for EMT104. Students must then pass EMT104AA within 6 months or the Incomplete grade will be changed to F. EMT104AA practical skills are pass / fail based on the AZ BEMS and National Registry guidelines. Skills evaluation sheets are provided in the EMT104 Course Pack. The skill sheets list the criteria for successful completion of practical skills evaluation stations. Students must achieve at least 80% of the total points possible and not violate any listed critical criteria for each skill. Successful completion of all practical skills is required within three attempts. Students who do not pass a required skills station within three attempts will not pass EMT104AA. Failure of four or more final practical skills, or failure of any one station three times will result in failure of the EMT104AA class. Remediation Per the AZ BEMS and NREMT guidelines, remediation is not permitted during EMT104AA. Attendance: Students must arrive on time. Students that miss the mandatory orientation will not be allowed to participate. Once testing begins, students may not leave the test site until dismissed by the NR exam coordinator. Phones: Phones should be turned off or set to silent during EMT104AA. Phones are not permitted in any of the skills testing stations.393 94 95 96 97 98 99 100 101 102 103 104 105
