He earned his Ph.D. at the Bren School of Environmental Science &Management, University of California, Santa Barbara in 2010. His interdisciplinary Ph.D. thesis stud-ies the production and use of volunteered geographic information in Wikipedia. His research interestsinclude distributed systems, energy-aware computing, GIS modeling, technology & society, and user-generated content.
