This productionincorporates all of the elements, functions, practices and skills that havebeen learned so far this semester.Description:1. A 30 second commercial or public service announcement.2. The subject must be a real product or service.3. Create the commercial in the image of the product. If the product has established logos or catchphrases, use them.4. You must use two talents. Either two on-camera talents or one on-camera talent and one voice-over.5. The commercial must use music or sound effects (this music must fit the image of thecommercial).6. One graphic is required (may be keyed or a picture, photo, graph or sign)7. One dissolve or fade transition must be incorporated into the production.8. The script must be written in the standard television split-page format. The script must be typedor computer generated.9. Copies of the script must be made available to the instructor, talent, technical director and audiodirector before that start of production.10. A storyboard must be turned in with the script on the announced due date. Storyboard must betyped.11. Target Audience Information must be turned in with script. Information must be typed.12. Each student will have a set time in which to produce the above assignment. When this timehas elapsed another production will begin immediately.B. Each student will direct his/her own production. The instructor and the production crew willprovide as much assistance as possible, but will not take over duties and responsibilities of thedirector.C. Each crew member is responsible for demonstrating competence in his/her position.D. Crew members who do not perform their assigned responsibilities in a professional manner, or donot carry out their assigned tasks with proficiency will have points deducted from their totalscore.E. Crew members who are not present to perform their assigned task on a production willhave 34 points deducted from their total for each production day missed. One point isdeducted from grade for each minute tardy after production set-up has started.Grading criteria:Script Evaluation:1. The script will be evaluated on correctness of format, completeness of camera and audiodirections, adherence to the assignment instructions, neatness and originality. Pointswill be deducted for each irregularity or omission in the script.2. A storyboard must be turned in with the script. Ten points will be deducted when astoryboard does not accompany the script.3. A Target Audience Analysis must be turned in with the script. Five points will bededucted when a storyboard does not accompany the script.Production Evaluation:1. The production will be evaluated on compliance with the assignment requirements listedon these pages. Productions that have missing elements or include portions that distractfrom the intent of the assignment will have points deducted for each incident. (This onlyapplies to elements that are within the responsibilities or control of the director.)2. Timing is an important aspect of television production. Each production will beevaluated to determine whether it is 30 seconds in length from fade-in to fade-out.
