Description: The Business and Professional Speech course explores the basic principles of oral communication applied to the communication needs of the business or professional person. The course provides practice in the research, construction, and delivery of various types of oral presentations and in the application of interpersonal, interviewing, and small group skills that occur in business, organizational, or professional settings. Attendance/Tardy Policy: -A student will be dropped from the course with a U on his/her 4th absence. -Two tardies equal one absence. -Sleeping in class constitutes an absence. Make-up policy: -SPEECHES or Exams may be made up on a Specified day if the absence is excused (school trip, death in the family, sickness with a doctor’s note) -No late papers will be accepted. If you are absent and an assignment is due, it still must be received by the deadline date and time. The deadline for all paperwork is 6:00pm on the day the assignment is due. You may send them via email. Important Notes: -Students with perfect attendance will receive 5 points added to their final. -Student need to bring their material to class and take notes. -Laptops are not prohibited, however due to misuse it is highly suggested that you do without them. If you bring your laptop, please be responsible with it. -Cell phones should be off and out of sight. -No tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. -The last day to drop is -Students have one week after a grade or absence is posted to contest the reporting.
