Graphics, texts, sound animation and/or video may be used in presentation, creating user guides and reference manuals using tutorials, evaluating and using training materials. (Laboratory fee, 3lec/4 lab) PREREQUISITES - Basic understanding of personal computers and operating systems as obtained in ITSC 1401 or BCIS 1405 or COSC 1401 or equivalent experience approved by instructor.. The Internet and the Computer Lab L108 may be used to achieve the overall objectives of the class. Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 software DEVELOPMENTAL COURSES - The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a statewide program designed to ensure that students enrolled in Texas public colleges and universities have the basic academic skills needed to be successful in college-level course work. The TSI requires assessment, remediation (if necessary), and advising of students who attend a public college or university in the state of Texas. The program assesses a student’s basic academic skills in reading, writing, and math. Passing the assessment is a prerequisite for enrollment in many college-level classes such as English 1301/1302, History 1301/1302, Math 1414, etc. Students who do not meet assessment standards may complete prerequisite requirements by taking developmental courses in the deficient area and passing them with a grade of C or higher. In some cases retesting will also be required. It is up to each student to2 be aware and informed about requirements that are subject to change. Use presentation media software. 2. Create and develop a presentation using text, clip art, pictures and sound animation, graphics, charts, and flow charts. 3. Develop and use presentation graphics 4. Explain the significance of scanning pictures or documents into presentations. 5. Discuss the parts of a presentation. 6. Make an effective presentation. 7. Discuss user documentation. 8. Describe types of user documentation. 9. Evaluate product documentation. 10. Evaluate training material. 11. Develop and organize training material. 12. Evaluate training material. 13. Demonstrate training ability. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES/ LEARNING OUTCOMES:  Discuss the fundamentals of PowerPoint 2007  Evaluate the presentation of development life cycle.  Acquaint students with the proper procedures to create effective presentations  Develop an exercise-oriented approach that allows learning by doing.  Introduce students to new input technologies  Encourage independent study and help those who work alone. Evaluation Procedures: Examinations/Tests Mid-Term and Final Exam are worth 200 Points each. Each Chapter assignment group will be worth 50 points. There are 12 assignment groups for each chapter. Some will have more than one project to complete. Obtaining Final Course Grades Using eConnect Final Grade Reports are no longer mailed. Convenient access is available online at www.econnect.dcccd.edu. Use your identification number when you log onto eConnect, an online system developed by the DCCCD to provide you with timely information regarding your college record. Your grades will also be printed on your Student Advising Report, which is available in the Admissions Office. In the inside back cover of your textbook are instructions for downloading the Project Files from the World Wide Web (You must use the email feature within eCampups to turn in ALL assignments – please ready & study the following instructions) Instructions for Submission of Assignments: a. You must submit your labs using the Blackboard (ecampus.dcccd.edu). I encourage the online/self-paced/weekday students to make use of the Internet if they have access to it The online/self-paced students must always connect to Blackboard 3 to 5 times each week for announcements and/or additions to the syllabus. b. The Self-Paced students are also encouraged to make an effort to visit eCampus for any announcements or changes in schedules. Send me an email at [email protected] if you have questions. Reminder: When you work on LAB00, make sure you complete that part that requires entering an email address. If you do not have an email address, please visit Hotmail.com or yahoo.com to create a free email for yourself. Each lab or project will be corrected only one time. Please do not resend labs after you have received a score, and I have told you what was incorrect about your lab. d. When you send your completed labs/projects. The information you send must contain: a) student name, b) Assignment lesson(s) completed, c) date the lab assignment was completed, and STUDENT ID number on a cover sheet.
