Office hours are Mondays from 10:30am-1:00pm, or you can email instructor for an appointment, office hours are an open-door policy.B. The course focus is to discuss how humans have impacted the ecosystem and its ability to provide the services we all rely on and also engage students in the pursuit of sustainable solutions to these impacts. The course will not discuss whether something is right orwrong, but the cause and effect of the impacts.C. The course philosophy is that people are inherently curious, people like to learn about things that are of interest to them personally, people learn by doing and interaction,respect and trust, and people learn when they are having fun.D. This course is a POGIL class. Students will work in groups during class time on exercises from the reading and then discuss with the class after completion. We will begin POGIL on Thursday.These notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture. GradeBuddy is best used as a supplement to your own notes, not as a substitute.E. III. An ecosystem is a dynamic grouping of the biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living or physical) and their interaction with each other. IV. Provisioning Services: food, fiber, freshwater2. Cultural Services: aesthetics, beautiful views, inspiration, spiritual/religious values, recreation3.
