POLS 103 1st EditionLecture 28Outline of Last Lecture I. International OrganizationII. European UnionIII. Debt CrisisOutline of Current Lecture II. Terrorism a. terrorism in Canadai. Pakistan’s Militants 1. Nigeria2. Cheaper Oil Current LectureTerrorismCovered earlier in the semester definition: use of force/ violence by a nonstate actor against civilians in order to get policy change in government of those civilians ISIS still a big problem, but not so much covered in the news now days because of the Ebola in the US and because of other things happening in the world Terror in CanadaWhat is happening: a young soldier was shot while standing guard at a National War memorial This shooting has been linked to earlier shooting of another Canadian soldier. This is a reminder that although Canada usually doesn’t make the news for having terrorist attacks it is still a possibility. The biggest terrorist attack against Canada was in 1985- bombing of an air India flight to Torontoin which 329 people died. This recent terrorist attack occurred during the time Canada was discussing increasing anti-terrorist powers at home and joining the military campaign led by the US against ISISPakistan MilitantsThese notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture.
