Immigration officials make it a priority to deport people (Travis county) a. Enforcement effects the census count V. Demographic profile of Latinos geographic dispersal (through out the 20th century people transitioned from Mex Southwest to move North a. Pop increase in Georgia has much to do with Olympics b. The movement up in social assimilation is not moving at the same rate as structural assimilation (education)  they have not been structurally incorp a. High dropout rates are permanent strugglesiv. Assimilation model by Gordon- people are being incorp structurally and culturally1. He looks at first generation race of immigrants 2. They have trouble at first but in second they are getting jobs etc by third they have middle class status by 4th gen they are structurally assimilated who don't identify with original culture and ethnicity  4th -5th gen outperforms the last significantly 3. Above model does not predict assimilation e.
