Overview & Introductionc. MethodologyCurrent LectureI. Anti-Queer Violence Continueda. Meyers says you must look at all factors (race, gender and class) combined with sexualityb. Method of gathering data was an interview. Important because we get the victims words, clarification, more in depth information and conversation.c. Why were minorities more unsure if their experience was based on their sexuality or another factor than white victims.i. Race: either nothing was said about sexuality or many categories were mentioned. Also being aware of race (White victims were less aware of their race)ii. Class: middle class victims analyzed experiences beforehand, whereas lower-class victims were less likely to have thought about if their experience had something to do with sexuality because they had bigger problems to worry about (not having heat, paying bills, etc.)These notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture.
