Example: plantation/university – slavery was not just about race, but also gender and class (although they weren’t as visible they were still there)b. Symbolic: involves belief systems or ideologies. Widespread socially sanctioned ideologies that are used to justify relations of dominations and inequality i. In short, belief systems we use to justify the inequality that we haveii. Belief systems are not just about race or gender or social class1. Ex. beliefs about a woman in poverty and an upper-class woman aren’t the same2. Example: media myths c. Individual: ways in which individual people’s lives are shaped by oppressioni. Imagine your own life with one factor changed (race, gender, class)II. Anti-Queer Violence:a.
