How does family dynamic change with family members who have disabilities?c. Historically there was a lot of blaming the mother (especially in autism, believed caused by mother being cold to you) or father. There is lots of guild associated with it. d. Parenting impacts the quality of life: number of kids, time spent at work. Many of the quality of life factors are interrelated… if the family is worrying about money (physical/material well-being), those worries could also affect the parenting and family interaction!e. There are programs specifically for families with disabilities. EX- Downs Syndrome Assoc, Autism Speaks, Learning Disabilities Assoc. There is usually a national one and also a state one. Every state has a federally funded support for parents. I. Building partnershipsa. (Think about it before calling parents for small behavior issues, we'll be teachers and trained. Another thing is sending kids quickly to the office, it gives an underlying message that you can't handle it so it’ssomeone else's problem)b. How will you develop effective partnerships with families?c. In a classroom setting, what would you do if you have students with behavioral problems that you can't solve? Having a close relationship with the parents comes in handy here too, because you and the parents are more likely to be on the same page. Try to have a good initial interaction with the parents first beforenegative input. Sending notes home, phone calls, even home
