IB 203 1st Edition Lecture 3Outline of Last Lecture I. Climate ModelII. Features of the earth that effect climateIII. Review of the biomesOutline of Current Lecture IV. Climate Change a. Concept MapV. ResponsesVI. Reading a scientific paperCurrent LectureClimate Change:From 1880 – 2012, the global climate has changed drastically as a result of increasing temperatures. The area that has had the greatest temperature increase is the northern ice caps, causing them to melt. Why?: The increase and decrease of global temperatures has remained mostly stable until the time of the industrial revolution and the burning of fossil fuels. These carbon emissions have caused increases of greenhouse gases and the raise of temperatures.Concept Map: Be able to construct a concept map that can link climate change to ecological andevolutionary responses.Ex. Climate change more snowfall  wolves hunting in packs  decrease in moose population increase in fir treesResponses: A. Cellular and behavioral changes: individual responses of a single organismB. Ecological:These notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture. GradeBuddy is best used as a supplement to your own notes, not as a substitute.a. Adjust via migration: population or community responsesb. Adjust via phenotypic plasticity: population responsesc. Adjust via evolutionary change: population, community, or ecosystem changeIf no adjustment can be achieved due to limitations, it might cause extinction. Reading a Scientific Paper:Abstract has 4 elements:- Introductory sentence- Methods- Results- DiscussionIntroduction is shaped like an upside down triangle: Start broad and then narrow focusDiscussion is shaped like a triangle: start small, broaden
