Psych 238 – Spring 2009 – J. MarquezAssignment 3 – Alcohol Use Expectancies (30 points)Your group will conduct a mini-survey to collect data about college students’ alcohol use expectancies. You will use the edited version of the Alcohol Expectancies Questionnaire to collect your data. DueTuesday April 28, 2009Your group will:- Come up with at least 1 research question and at least 3 hypotheses pertaining to the expectancies of college students’ alcohol use.- Come up with at least 2 comparison groups. These groups can be anything you would like to investigate (such as males vs. females, freshman vs. seniors, sororities vs. fraternities, Latinos vs. Caucasians, tall graduate students vs. short graduate students, athletes vs. engineers, etc). - Each member in your group must collect data from at least 8 college students.Alcohol Expectancy Questionnaire (AEQ) subscale info:1) Global Positive Changes (e.g. I feel more creative after I’ve been drinking)2) Romantic & Sexual Enhancement (e.g. I often feel sexier after I’ve had a couple of drinks)3) Physical and Social pleasure (e.g. some alcohol has a pleasant, cleansing, tingly taste)4) Increased Assertiveness (e.g. When I’m drinking, it’s easier toopen up and express my feelings)5) Relaxation and Tension Reduction (e.g. alcohol makes me worry less) 6) Interpersonal and Power Improvements (e.g. I feel powerful when I drink, as if I can really influence others to do what I want).Psych 238 – Spring 2009 – J.
