RationaleStep 6 – Evidence Presented Upon CompletionStep 7 - Reflection/ImplicationsPROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE PROFESSIONAL GROWTH PLANUse this form in conjunction with the 3 standards and 12 criteriaName: SAMPLE 1Building and Assignment: Standard/Criterion: 1(g) Integrating technology into instruction and assessmentStep 1 - Needs Assessment and Goal SelectionA. Professional Growth Area of Focus Your self-assessment using the Descriptions of Practice, discussions with your Professional Growth Team, and the review of school/district plans will provide guidance on a specific area for growth within the selected criterion. While I am acceptable at integrating technology into my lesson plans, I need to develop a better relationship and understanding of technology so that I can design lessons that will involve my students in the use of technology. I want to learn how to use self-created visual organizers on the computer, how to effectively make an awesome website and how to make a documentary. Once I have mastered these skills I will be much more effective at teaching my students how to do these things. B. RationaleWhat will your students be able to do as a result of your professional growth that they are not now able to do?MY STUDENTS WILL BE WELL SCAFFOLDED IN CREATING THEIR OWN MOVIES, DOCUMENTARIES, WEBPAGES AND VISUAL ORGANIZERS. ONCE I LEARN HOW TO DO THESE THINGS, I WILL BE ABLE TO TEACH THEM TO MY STUDENTS, WHICH I CURRENTLY CAN NOT DO. Step 2 - New LearningBased on your rationale, what new skills and knowledge (grounded in research) will you need to build your capacity in this area? Be Specific.I WILL NEED TO BETTER UNDERSTAND/MASTER DREAM WEAVER WEB PROGRAM TO BUILD MY CLASSROOM WEBSITE. I WILL HAVE A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF TECHNOLOGY TEACHING SOURCES AVAILABLE TO ME AND I WILL BE ABLE TO TEACH WITH DIFFERENT MODALITIES REACHING A MUCH BROADER STUDENT BASE.Step 3 - Professional Growth Action PlanWhat specific growth activities will you engage in to obtain the identified new learning?ACTIVITIES TARGET DATE RESOURCES NEEDEDCREATE A WEB PAGECREATE A DOCUMENTARYCREATE A VISUAL ORGANIZEREND OF WINTER AND SPRING QUARTERSDREAM WEAVERWEBSITE THAT HAS RESOURCES AND ISTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING HISTORICAL DOCUMENTARYWORD OR EXCELLStep 4 - Evidence ProposedWhat evidence might you gather to demonstrate the impact of your professional growth on student learning as stated in Step 1?I WOULD HAVE EACH STUDENT’S DOCUMENTARY AND MULTIPLE VISUAL ORGANIZERS FROM THE STUDENTS AND THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CLASS WEBPAGES. I WOULD HAVE THEM REFLECT IN THEIR REFLECTION JOURNALS ABOUT WHY WE USE TECHNOLOGY, HOW IT EFFECTS OUR DAILY LIVES, AND WHY THE LEARNING IS IMPORTANT. Step 5 - Collaboration with the Professional Growth TeamArrange to consult with your Professional Growth Team and share your plan. Make revisions to your plan based on feedback.APPROVAL OF PLAN (TEAM MEMBERS)_______________________________________________________________ Date: __________ _______________________________________________________________ Date: __________ _______________________________________________________________ Date: __________The next steps will be completed toward the end of your professional certification program and used in your final portfolio and presentation – but should be considered as you work on achieving your professional growthplans. (See below:)Step 6 – Evidence Presented Upon CompletionBriefly describe the actual evidence of impact on student learning. If the description and evidence is located in an Entry in your portfolio, please reference its location here. You do need to rewrite your description here.Step 7 - Reflection/ImplicationsFocus Question: As you reflect on your progress in this area of focus, what are some next steps that might guide future learning? This section may also be reflected in your Portfolio and simply referred to here.Completion of Plan_______________________________________________________________ Date: __________ Candidate_______________________________________________________________ Date: __________ University RepresentativePROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE PROFESSIONAL GROWTH PLANUse this form in conjunction with the 3 standards and 12 criteriaName: SAMPLE 1Building and Assignment: Standard/Criterion: 1(i) Incorporating democratic principles into his/her practice Step 1 - Needs Assessment and Goal SelectionA. Professional Growth Area of Focus Your self-assessment using the Descriptions of Practice, discussions with your Professional Growth Team, and the review of school/district plans will provide guidance on a specific area for growth within the selected criterion.I have an emerging understanding of democratic principles being applied in the classroom but I feel that I use them superficially at this point. I plan a lesson based on content or skills that need to be covered and then if students make suggestions I will accommodate or revise on the fly. Occasionally I was able to construct units/or lessons based on student interest but the practice was not always in the forefront of my lesson plan writing mind. I want to have a classroom where each student has a voice and impact on their learning, my learning and the rest of the classes learning. I am just not quite able to construct lessons that revolve around students’ needs and interests. B. RationaleWhat will your students be able to do as a result of your professional growth that they are not now able to do?OUR CLASSROOM WILL BE A STUDENT FOCUSED LEARNING ENVIRONMENT THAT REACHES AND ACCOMODATES ALL STUDETNS LEARNING. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO SELF-ASSESS, SELF-MONITOR, SET THEIR OWN LEARNING GOALS AND DESIGN THEIR OWN LEARNING TASKS. STUDENTS WILL HAVE POWER OVER THEIR LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT (PORTFOLIOS). Step 2 - New LearningBased on your rationale, what new skills and knowledge (grounded in research) will you need to build your capacity in this area? Be Specific.I AM IN A SEMINAR GROUP THAT FOCUSES ON CREATING A DEMOCRATIC CLASSROOM. I AM READING SEVERAL TEXTS (SEE BOOKLIST), GATHERING MAGAZINE ARTICLES AND GOING ON A FIELD TRIP TO A SCHOOL THAT IMPLENTS DEMOCRATIC PRINICPALS, I WILL BE DISCUSSING AND TEACHING MY NEW LEARNING ON A REGULAR BASES. FROM THIS INFORMATION AND EXPERIENCES I WILL BE BETTER EQUIPPED TO SET UP
