15 15 15 40 103 Regrade requests The grades will be curved if necessary at the end of the semester to have an average of B B You have 1 week after the release of the grade to ask for regrade request For assignments and quizzes regrade requests the following steps must be followed in order 1 Submit a regrade request through Gradescope 2 If step 1 did not resolve the problem Contact your reader for assignments or your GSI for Quizzes Introduction to Solid Mechanics CE C30 ME C85 3 Units Syllabus and Policies Mechanical Engineering Department Instructor Parsa Taheri PhD University of California Berkeley Fall 2023 3 If step 1 and 2 did not resolve the problem Contact the instructor Note A regrade request does not mean an increase in grade is granted We will look at your request and inform you of any grade change 8 Assignments Quizzes Midterms and Final Examinations Attendance bonus This is a bonus point It will be added to your grade at the end of the semester You may check your name on the roster I provide at the beginning of each lecture You may only mark your name at the beginning of the class The attendance will be calculated using the following equation N number of classes attended x a Macaulay Bracket Function Attendance Grade out of 3 7 5 N 33 0 55 Assignments You will have a weekly assignment The assignment problems are released every Friday and they are due next Friday You have one week to solve the problems and return your work You must submit your work digitally either by taking photos of your handwritten answers or by uploading a file from your tablet Assignments must be submitted through the Gradescope website The assignments will be graded in a few days or up to one week and your grades will be posted in bCourses and Gradescope The solutions to the homework assignments will be posted on the website every Friday after the submission deadline There will be a penalty of 15 per day for late assignment submission Quizzes The students must be ready for a 30 minute quiz every Friday between 12 pm and 5 pm The quizzes will be from the material taught in the same week and the previous weeks There will be an announcement every week regarding the topics covered in the quiz Sample quizzes from previous semesters will also be provided Quizzes will be online and through bCourses Gradescope The quizzes will be graded after one or two weeks and your grades will be posted on the bCourses Gradescope One or two of your worse quiz grades will be dropped excluding the excused quizzes for example due to sickness Midterm exams You will have two midterms during the semester The exams will cover all the materials taught excluding the material from the same week of the exam There will be an announcement before each midterm
