EXCEL INTRODUCTION A software program created by Microsoft that uses spreadsheets to organize numbers and data with formulas and functions Excel initial screen Title bar Shows the name of the program and the name of the worksheet with which you are working Menu bar Contains all Excel functions grouped in drop down windows Formatting Toolbar Contains buttons for quicker access to frequently used functions Formula bar It shows us the content of the active cell that is the box where we are located Worksheet Made up of 256 columns and 65535 rows Each intersection between a column and a row is called a cell We can create a new worksheet by pressing the icon at the bottom of the sheet Movements Only a small part of the sheet is visible in the document window You need to move through the document In a sheet you can always use the scroll bars to display the desired cell but also we can use keyboard movements MOVEMENT A1 Sheet KEYBOARD CTRL INIT First cell of the active column CTRL ARROW UP Last cell of the active column CTRL ARROW DOWN First cell of the active row Last cell of the active row CTRL ARROW LEFT or INIT CTRL ARROW RIGHT References When using formulas and functions references are made to cells or a set of cells References are links to a place There are 3 types of references Relative reference The row and column references change if the formula is copied to another cell References are made by differentiating the distance between the cell that contains the formula and the cells that are part of the formula If we copy the formula from A2 to cell B3 the formula will change to B2 2 one more column to the right and one row lower A1 B2 Absolute reference The row and column references do not change if the formula is copied to another cell If we copy the formula from A2 to cell B3 nothing changes because in front of the column and the row is the sign Mixed reference We can combine both references We can make the rows relative and the columns absolute or vice versa The row will not change but the column will Functions Formulas A formula is a sequence made up of constant values references to other cells names functions or operators The formula is written in the formula bar or in a cell and must always start with the sign The different types of operators that can be used in a formula are Arithmetic Operators to produce numerical results Text type operator to concatenate cells containing text ex ex Relational operators to compare values and get a logical value true or false as a result of the comparison ex used in the formula They can be Reference operators indicate that the value in the cell referenced must be Range operator indicated by a colon it is used to indicate a cell Union operator indicated by a comma unites the values of two or range ex A1 G5 more cells ex A1 G5 Function A function is a special formula written that accepts a value or values performs calculations on those values and returns a result Every formula is written from the result cell with the sign All functions have to follow a syntax and if it is not respected Excel will show us an error message 1 Arguments or input values are always enclosed in parentheses Do not leave spaces before or after each parentheses 2 The arguments can be constant values number or text formulas or functions 3 The arguments must be separated by a semicolon Ex SUMA A1 B3 You can see a list of statistical formulas in the link https support microsoft com en us office statistical functions reference 624dac86 a 375 4435 bc25 76d659719ffd Graphics In Excel you can make different types of graphical representations The steps to create a chart are 1 Select the columns with the data that we want displayed You can create random data with de formula RAND 2 Go to Insert tab and select the type of chart that we want to visualize 3 For example Scatter plot 4 You can customize the chart as much as you like REFERENCES http www agro unlpam edu ar licenciatura informatica sept Apuntes 20excel pdf http www ugr es aulaff1 cont cosas guias excel pdf https www w3schools com excel index php https support microsoft com en us office statistical functions reference 624dac86 a 375 4435 bc25 76d659719ffd
