Kiana Thomas Professor Sarah Buck ARH 2000 6 November 2022 Diversity Reflection The focus of my analysis will be on the topic Subversion Social Change through Street Art Module 3 Unit 5 The artist Bansky focuses mainly on the diversity aspect of subversion and social change Banksy an English graffiti artist and political activist is well known for using dark political humor and sarcasm with his extraordinary and one of a kind stenciling technique probably because it s a quicker way to paint to create meaningful artworks that involve current societal and political issues He would also incorporate real life objects into his artworks including traffic signs extinguishers and fire hydrants to create eye catching street artwork Violence and war are topics on which Banksy has frequently expressed The most polemical street artist now is unquestionably Banksy Banksy can communicate and criticize more openly and to a larger public by using street art and graffiti Graffiti has been identified as vandalism public art and political imagery but it still has a significant impact on the world of modern art with Banksy being one of the top graffiti artists out there The aspect of diversity and human experience highlighted by Banksy relates to me because he gives a voice for all of us He addresses certain global and political issues through his artworks which we are also part of I m familiar with Banksy s artworks that he made during the BLM movement giving honor to the black people who were killed by police brutality or injustice I believe it s important that Banksy keeps raising awareness throughout the world in order to make our voices heard and encourage everyone to make a change for the better
