ISDS 514Homework 1: Setting up basic linear programsISDS 514 Homework 1: Setting up basic linear programs Note 1: In some of the problems you are asked to come up with a spreadsheet for the problem and then to write the problem in an algebraic (mathematical) form. You might find it easier to do the reverse as we did in class, that is to write the problem in an algebraic form and then convert it to a spreadsheet. Note 2: In the questions that you are asked to solve the problem with graphical method by hand, you can use an online Module for Graphical Linear Programming whose link is as follows. Make sure that you understand how you can find the answer with the graphical method even though most of the steps are assisted in the website. https://cbom.atozmath.com/CBOM/Simplex.aspx?q=gm You will not be asked in the exam to draw the graphs by hand. Note 3: The formatting of the spreadsheet models developed in the solutions may not look exactly the same as the “color-coded” version of the problem we did in class. The way each component of a linear program is laid out on a spreadsheet is a matter of personal taste but it is important that all of them are organized neatly on a spreadsheet. In fact, looking at spreadsheets that does not “look” exactly to the ones we did in class gives you a good practice to read spreadsheets from other people – which is what happens very often in the workplace.
