In this episode, The Test Kitchen ch 2, the host Sruthi Pinnamaneni interviews young employees who came to Bon Appetit with the thought that management may have changed their attitude in recent years towards the color persons. When they were interviewed by the management of the Bone Appetit, they were heard from the management that the magazine now cares about diversity and wants to get out from the negative that came from the last scandals. They even havehired Ryan Walker-Hartshorn, Adam’s executive assistant. For a while, she was the only Black person in the editorial. But over time the new employees have started to feel the same restrictionsas the former employees. The white people who ran this establishment hired colored people and promised them a change that never seemed to materialize. A group of employees tried to fix the place on their own, and in the end, it all ended, as is often the case, with a trade union movement.Many people have joined this struggle. After police killed George Floyd, one major advertiser, Procter & Gamble, threatened to withdraw its ad dollars from one Condé Nast brand, Vogue, if their magazine remained white. Within a week, as if by magic, the company developed a solid diversity strategy backed by real teeth and real money. That was all it took - a gruesome murder and a harsh letter from the toothpaste maker
