The North American region consists of the United States and Canada. The region is bordered by the Arctic in the north, the Atlantic in the east, with the southeast lined with South America and the Caribbean Sea, and both in the west and south by the Pacific Ocean. As the name entails, Caribbean region lies in the Caribbean Sea which is southeast of the Gulf of Mexico and betweenthe US and Venezuela. Despite being just a few miles from each other, the North American region and the Caribbean have vastly different characteristics that make them distinct in their own way. With the US being approximately 9,833,517 square kilometers and Canada about 9,984,670 square kilometers, the North American region is comprised of two of the largest countries in the world. Sizing at about 19,818,187 square kilometers, it just beats Russia by but a few square kilometers (Harris et. al. 2021). In comparison, the Caribbean is only 1 million square kilometers, just aboutthe size of Oregon. However, the mileage is not just over some vast continent, the Caribbean includes over 7,000 islands, which span the whole millions of kilometers squared. Many of the islands are not independent states. They are still under their colonial rulers from back then. In general, there are 12 dependencies and 13 sovereign states, carrying about 45 million people from all around the world (Clarke & Brereton 2020). In a similar way, the North Americanregion includes a whopping 369,695,389 population among their land mass, with diversity from many lands. However, the United States and Canada have been able to become independent fromtheir initial colonial rulers. Additionally, the population distribution within the North American region has a distinct pattern. Even with a huge land mass, Canada’s population is along the southern border along the US. This is due to the climate being much more suitable to live in as well as the railroad built along that side (Krueger et. al. 2021). In the US, the farthest left and right sides of the country are the most populated, with the mid-west being very sparsely populated due most likely to the climate in those areas. Being on the side of colonization, these regions are well versed in ethnic diversity among the people. The race of colonization was, for the most part, a way to again advantage and seem more powerful to other countries around the world. For North America, it was refugees and land-seekers. For the Caribbean, it was for the soil. Overall, most of the countries who raced for these lands were from Europe and Spain. In the Caribbean, the Spanish left their colonial legacies in Cuba, Hispaniola, and Puerto Rico. The other islands were predominantly French, Dutch, and English. In North America, the English, Spanish and French also had their influence. The Spanish started in Florida while the English were at the Virginia colony and Plymouth. Then, theFrench were hanging around the Mississippi River and in Canadian coasts (Finlayson 2019). Within all those settlements, indigenous people also roamed the streets. On top of that, the African Slave Trade brought in more contrasting backgrounds to the lands, thus beginning the multiplication of diversity among the people. In America, European ancestry (including German,Irish, English, Italian, Polish and French, White Hispanic and Latino Americans from Latin America) form the largest racial group at seventy-one percent of the population. African Americans come in as second being the largest racial minority along with Asian Americans asthe second largest racial
