He then goes on to praising God, saying that Lord has given us a path and hehas given us all knowledge and wisdom there is for us to use for good. He furtherpraises God for giving birth to Jesus Christ, who gives way to ‘truth’ and ‘life’. Lastly,he says that all of us should be merciful, that humans are to spread ‘gospel’ (teachingsof God) to spread hope.2) In Eleazar’s elegy, he mourns the death of a person and recounts his qualities such ashis ‘virtues’ and ‘holy faith’. He then talks about his holy faith (‘Christ’), that amongthe stars he lies ‘glory’ in heaven. And that here on Earth, evil persists around hiscross where his ‘bones rest in the grave’.
