EXERCISE #1 - ICE BREAKER GROUP 1 To complete our first exercise, we all decided to meet up at Dunkin Donuts on Reseda to get to know each other and become comfortable with one another. After being conflicted on which icebreaker to use, we decided to stick with the old-school “Two Truths and One Lie.” In playing this game, we realized how adventurous some of the members are while others are more homebodies, we also uncovered some personality traits we all shared. After doing the icebreaker, we discussed experiences that shaped us, and a lot of us had, in a way, similar concepts behind our experiences. Casey and Richard both shared experiences that had a similar concept behind it. Casey shared about the time she traveled to Israel and Richard discussed his experience having to move states several times. Although they might not correlate, the message behind them were similar. They both obtained different perspectives aboutlife outside of the California life and how different it can be for other individuals. It brought to their attention how thankful we should be for what we have and how lucky we are to be living the way we do with the luxuries given to us. Robin, Jake, Mitchell, and Katherine also had similar concepts behind their experiences. Three of us, Robin, Jake, and Katherine, attended catholic school and agreed that all the restrictions placed upon us structured us to become a bit shy or not like to be around people for an extended period of time. After catholic school, the three of us agreed that the restrictions held us back in certain opportunities and occasions, but it was a great way to start stepping out of our comfort zone, as Mitchell would also agree. Mitchell didn’t attend catholic school, but he was an Eagle Scout. Being involved in Boy Scouts also helped Mitchell step out of his comfort zone and not be as shy along with coordination and leadership skills. Lastly, Chris stated he believed he had no real “experiences” and felt he missedout on a lot throughout his teenage years. However, he is now socializing more, and this has caused a change in his personality and perspectives which correlates with everyone else’s. While discussing our experiences we realized our values were also connected to the impacts in our lives and we became aware that we all shared common ones: honesty, kindness, and loyalty. We all agreed these three are crucial for team building and/or creating relationships in general. Though we had similar values, we also had different ones. Our work ethic seemed to be at the same level for everyone. We all have goals related to our majors or are using our majors to help reach a certain idea in mind. Some of us want to stick to corporate work, others want to start their own business or further their current one, and others partnering with other majors to give back to the community while knowing proper business techniques. At the end, we all concluded that our strengths are strong minded, open to diversity/new perspectives, and we all worked well together. We quickly realized the ease and comfort we had in sharing our personal stories and starting a conversation with one another - everything flowed naturally. However, with strengths also come weaknesses, and as much as we would not want this to be a common weakness of ours, procrastination found its way to be a common weakness within the group. Nonetheless, we did come to an agreement, that as long as we set deadlines for ourselves it should not be an issue. Overall, we all bring different personalities to the table and figure we matched well and are sure we can bring the best out of each other. Connecting with one another and getting our thoughts across was not as difficult as expected, therefore, we believe we should not have many problems throughout the
