Psy 100 PapersThis document provides information that is applicable to ALL of the papers you will do for this class. Please review this before submitting each paper, as it has important information. Submitting Your Paper- Papers must be submitted through their respective assignment spots in Canvas. - Your paper must be in .doc, .docx, or .pdfo Note that “Pages” on Macs do not worko If your WGTA has to ask you to resubmit it in a readable format, you will lose points.o You can double-check if it worked! After hitting “submit,” go to “submission details” on the right. Click on “view feedback” to open a window that shows yourpaper. If “view feedback” does not exist, the grader cannot see your paper either and you must resubmit in the proper format.Formatting- Length of 2-3 pages, double-spaced (two FULL pages, but not over 3 full pages)- Times New Roman font, size 12 font, 1” margins- Include your name and a title of your choosing at the top of each paper. - Please add CSU’s Academic Integrity Statement and your name to your paper: “I have not given, received, or used any unauthorized assistance on this assignment.” - See the last page of this document for a visualYou must include citations- When should you cite?o Any time it is not your own, original idea. Even if you paraphrase, you still must cite.  Do not use direct quotes in this class. Always put the information in your own words (paraphrase).o If you are using several sentences based on one source, it is okay to cite every 2-3 sentences instead of at the end of every single one.- If there are not citations in your paper, you have plagiarized. Therefore…o If your paper does not have any in-text citations, you will lose 5 points.o If you submit a second paper without citations, your paper will not be graded untilyou meet with Jaime. If you do not meet with her within 2 weeks of her e-mailingyou, you will receive a 0 on the paper. (She will e-mail you at the e-mail Canvas provides. You should be checking your e-mail at least a few times per week.)- Do not include citations from sources other than those specified in the assignment sheet.Citation Formatting- Citations must be formatted in APA style (learn more by reading the “APA Style Guide” document on Canvas).- You must use in-text citations (this means that the citations are throughout your paper, likely at the beginning or end of sentences in each paragraph). You do not need to include a reference page (which is when the citations are all listed together at the end of the document).Writing Your Paper- Academic papers tend to sound dry! It’s okay to state something bluntly; you do not needto make it sound pretty or creative. o e.g., Academic: “The movie included the concepts of ____, ____, and ____.”e.g., Creative: “In this film, many psychological concepts were illustrated in a variety of manners. ____, ____, and ____ were all included as Joy and Sadness went on their adventures through the depths of Riley’s mind.”Late Papers- Papers that are 1-15 minutes late will lose 1 point. - Papers that are 16 minutes – 24 hours late will lose 5 points. Every additional 24 hours (including weekends) is an additional 5 points off. - If your paper is finished before the deadline, but Canvas is not working, e-mail your WGTA with Jaime cc-ed and the paper attached. (If the paper is not attached, we do not know if it was actually finished on time.) Then, upload it to Canvas as soon as it is working again (it is much easier for us to grade in there than via e-mail) and include a comment reminding us that you e-mailed it on time. Resources- CSU Writing Center: http://writing.colostate.edu - Your textbook, Exploring Psychology- Your WGTA! You can meet with them in their office to discuss the assignment or your draft. You also can e-mail them a draft of your paper as long as you include specific questions. Also, note that the teaching team may take up to 48 hours to respond to an e-mail (and may not respond on a weekend or at night). Therefore, if you send them the draft only 1 day before the deadline, they may not respond on time.o Acceptable request: “Could you please check whether my topic sentences are adequate? Also, I am not sure about the strategy I chose for adulthood—could you let me know if it is appropriate or if I should choose another one? Finally, I described the strategy for infancy, but feel like it may need a bit more detail, I’m just not sure what other information to add. Could you give me a pointer as to how to expand?”o Unacceptable request: “Please look over my paper and let me know what to improve.” “Could you tell me if my paper is meeting the requirements?” If you send something like this, they will respond by asking you to be more specific in what you want help on. If you want help with the entire paper, it is best to go to office hours or visit the Writing Center.- Document on Canvas: “APA Style Guide” This will help you correctly cite your sources.Have Questions About a Grade?- You will typically receive your grade 2 weeks + 1 day after the submission deadline. - Make sure you read the in-text comments and end comments of your paper; they might answer your question.- If you still have questions, see below for information about how to get in touch with your WGTA.- Make sure to talk to your WGTA before talking with Jaime. While Jaime is happy to meet with you, the WGTAs will be able to provide much more detail about your paper, the comments, and its grade since they were the ones grading it. - You must address questions about your paper grade before the next paper has been graded. For example, if you have a question about Paper 2’s grade, you must contact your grader before the grader has returned Paper 3’s grade. Communicating with your WGTA- See syllabus for your grader’s information - Do NOT reply in the assignment’s comment box after it has been graded, as (despite whatCanvas says) the graders do not receive a notification that you commented on it and they will therefore not see it and not reply. E-mail them to communicate. (Reference the syllabus for more information about e-mailing.)Your NamePSY 100-Your Section #Your Writing GTA’s Name (Refer to Syllabus)Your TitleThis is where your paper content goes. All items in blue on this example are things that will be replaced with your own content. When you use your criteria, underline
