TEXT HOMEWORK The homework system that we will be using this semester is called Wiley Plus Included with the homework code that you will buy is an e book for this class This means that you do not need to buy a hardcopy of the textbook if you do not wish to do so You have 2 options to buy the homework code If you do not plan on purchasing a hard cover book you should buy it directly online through the link provided in Moodle Please be sure to use the DISCOUNT CODE UMA16 MAKE SURE YOU ENTER YOUR STUDENT ID NUMBER DURING REGISTRATION Please note Assignments that are done after the due date will be marked in Wiley Plus as late and their score will be reduced by 50 EXAMS There will be two midterm exams and one final All exams are multiplechoice and you will need a 2 pencil to fill in the answer bubble sheet You may use a calculator and you will need one but you may not share a calculator with anyone else Cell phone calculators are not allowed The exam dates are Thursday October 11th Wednesday November 28th from 7 8 30 PM The final exam is Monday December 17th at 10 30 AM There will be no early makeup exams for the final All locations TBA MAKE UP MIDTERMS Make up midterms will be given Saturday October 13th for exam 1 and TBD for exam 2 Make ups will only be given for a university approved reason Math 127 SYLLABUS i e two exams at the same time Make up exams MUST be requested by providing documentation no later than 2 weeks before the exam at 5pm These deadlines will be September 27th and November 14th respectively In order to request a makeup exam you must provide documentation to your course instructor by the date listed above This can be obtained from the Registrar s Whitmore Building If you miss both the makeup and regular exam illness death etc you may be eligible to take a supermakeup which takes place during the last week of classes or the first week of finals You must contact your instructor within 48 hours of the exam and provide documentation supporting your university approved absence as soon as you return to campus DISABILITY SERVICES If you are a student who is eligible to receive accommodations through disability services you should have DS send your notification letter ASAP You will not be able to receive any accommodations until your letter is received by your instructor Accommodations are not retroactive so please have your letters sent ASAP even if you don t intend to use your accommodations For evening exams you will take the exam on the same evening as everyone else starting at 6 PM to account for extra time You will be in a distraction reduced setting You will need to email your instructor 2 weeks prior to the exam if you plan on using your extended time accommodation on exams HELP CENTER There is a help center lab specifically designated for this class It is located at 140 LGRT and is open M Th from 3 8 PM There are computers available to work on Wiley Plus and the center is staffed with Math 127 Teaching
