This item or similar may be purchased at a reasonable cost: umass.amazon.com/dp/B007FAZOVS/ref=umass_coursecatalog Grading: OWL Chapter Assignments: Given on a weekly basis – 15% OWL EOC Assignments: Given on a weekly basis -- 20% Exam 1: Tuesday, October 9: Mon. schedule (70min, 2 sessions offered) – 20% Exam 2: Wednesday, November 14, (70min, 2 sessions offered) -- 20% (optional) Exam 3: Monday, December 10 (70min, 2 sessions offered) – replaces lowest score Final Exam: Friday, December 14, (2 hours, 2 sessions offered) – 25% Extra credit: up to 5% for class participation via clickers OWLs: 1. eBook readings will be released immediately for each chapter to be covered in this course. 2. ‘Inside’ Chapter OWLs will all be opened immediately. Unlimited attempts will be given, and deadlines will be as indicated below (generally on a weekly basis). 3. ‘End of Chapter’ (EOC) OWLs will be opened on a weekly basis, with ~9 days (and 2 weekends) given before the deadline. You will have TEN (10) attempts per question. Model kits are allowed in exams, and periodic tables will be provided. No calculators will be permitted (you will not need them). Prior to exams, review sheets and practice exams will be made available. Moodle/Lecture Notes/Recordings/etc. Lecture notes will generally be provided on Moodle by 11pm the evening before the lecture. Written-on slides will be provided on Moodle following the lecture.
