Week three: Pre-Journal: PoetryI have read some poetries in the past but not much. I rememberthe time when I was joyful as well as emotional in the high-school classroom, reading poetries recommend by the teacher. It was impressed because I felt that my soul was relaxing and I was inspiredby the great ideas behand each poetry. I always relate poetry to music in that I can find something existed both in them, the emotionalflow. From my perspective, poetry appeals to the same things as music appeals to--rhythm and imagery and emotion. Poetry, like music, draws a picture of things or emotions to which we can relate. Everyone has been sad or depressed or thrilled, and we can feel that again through poetry. By the way We like reminding ourselves of those great emotions through poetry. When I read or hear poetry that has a rhythm that cries out for music behind it, I tend to like or enjoy it. There is a pace and there are visual elements that carry me to a different place and time. Poetrythat I like tends to be about a different world than the one I'm in. I enjoy reading poetry because it takes me to emotionally experience fresh circumstance or remind me the significance of the world which Ihaven’t realize before. I adore to let myself immerse in good poetry. I can close my eyes and see a story unfolding before my inner eyes.Having said that, there are other types of poetry that I like. Maya Angelou, for example, writes in a style that conveys a sense of strength and power that carries a rhythm I enjoy. When Maya reads her own poetry, I always close my eyes and feel the rhythm behind it and feel the emotions she conveys.Regardless, poetry is something that can be enjoyed by all ages and all walks of life. It is something that fuels inspiration and happiness since the first poem ever written. With poetry you can say more with less words, and you can convey some meanings that have no words at all. That is, poetry is a language all its own. With poetry, unlike with a novel or other kinds ofwriting, you can freeze one moment in time or one place or person orevent, and describe nothing but that. Poetry is one of the ways to reflect beauty in our own language, and express art with the arrangement of words. Poetry can be crafted. Poetry has no rules. Itdoesn't have to rhyme and you can write
