Related text materials are from Chemical Principles - The Quest for Insight, 2nd Ed., Atkins and Jones, Freeman Publishing Company. However, you may use ANY general chemistry textbook that you have for review of the appropriate topics. 3 Prelab Reports are due at the beginning of your regularly scheduled lab period. Postlab reports are due at the end of your regularly scheduled period listed under "Due Date". 4 This computer tutorial is in the Science Learning Center - Young Hall South - Room. 4335 and 4336Chem 20L CHEM ONE SOFTWARE This is an excellent chemistry resource for those of you who want to review and practice more chemistry problems. It will help you to prepare for the exams (NOTE: ONE question on EACH exam will be based directly from the software) and also help you to understand some basic concepts behind the experiment. CHEM ONE software is available in the Science Learning Center (SLC) (4335 & 4336 Young) and also in 1054 Young Hall. You will need to logon to the computer before you can use the software. Logon instructions for SLC computers are described on the SLC instructional handout. To start using the software, double click on the "Chem 1 Lessons" icon located on the desktop. Here are the topics in the CHEM ONE software that I want all of you to finish for the exams: For midterm exam, finish the following topics in the CHEM ONE software: SQUARE 1- THE BASICS (finish ALL topics under Mathematical Foundation and under Units & Conversions, finish only "Units Conversion" subtopics) STATES OF MATTER, SOLUTIONS (finish "Solutions: Concentrations" under the subtopic lesson Liquids and Solutions) For the final exam, finish the following topics in the CHEM ONE software: AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS, ACIDS AND BASES (click on "Acid-Base Fundamental Concepts" finish subtopic lessons 6&7 ONLY) AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS, ACIDS AND BASES (click on "Acid-Base Equilibria and Calculations" finish only subtopic lessons 10,11,13,14 & 15) Note: Besides the CHEM ONE software, there are many other software (such as WORD, EXCEL etc) that are available for you to use in SLC. During the quarter, there will be many opportunities for you to explore the SLC facility to help you to prepare for the class. Make good use of
