Study Guide for Chem1211 Lab Practical ExamWe have designed a new lab practical exam. This guide discusses the format and outlines the topics on the exam. The exam will be given during the week of November 18-22. Format•The exam will consist of 10 questions/problems. Each question will be worth 10 points. •The questions will be set up at 10 stations. You will have 4 minutes to answer the question. After 4 minutes, your TA will say rotate and you will move to the next station. •Each station will have equipment or glassware to observe, a measurement to make or data to analyze. Some stations will involve calculations. •You will be given an answer sheet for recording your answer for each question. •Some questions are multiple-choice. Other questions are short answer or a calculation. •You will be assigned a time to report to the exam during your regularly scheduled lab period. Your TA will give you this information the week before the final. We will administer the exam to 10 students at a time. If you are late for the exam, you will not receive additional time or have the opportunity to attend another session. ContentThe exam will cover basic techniques and procedures covered throughout the semester. You only have 4 minutes at each station. The task will be straightforward and something that can be completed within 4 minutes, often less. In some cases, you will be given data and then you must do a calculation or interpret a graph or spectra. This is not a test of memorization. You need to understand concepts and be able to apply the calculations from lab to a new setting. Topics covered on the exam:1.Safety 2.How to use glassware 3.Specific Heat4.Thermogravimetric analysis 5.Chemical reactions6.Emission spectra7.Absorption Spectroscopy 8.Titrations 9.Electrolytes/NonelectrolytesAll work that you do for this class should be in accordance with the University of Georgia Academic Honesty
