To V Parrish From Anusha Tamanampudi CMPE 294 06 We 6 30pm 9 15 pm Date 08 31 2016 Subject Interns Entry Essay Internship is a great opportunity to work with an employer for a limited time It provides the intern with a chance to learn technical skills industry standards time management skills In the company perspective the company can evaluate the intern if he she would be correct fit to the position both technically and culturally with the organization The intern can also analyze if he she can adapt to the work culture and if his her technical skills match the required position From my personal experience as an intern I had a chance to learn why it is important to insist on highest standards and why it is important to have good design Intern does not have any obligation to the company if he she is offered a job but it is necessary to evaluate all the advantages and disadvantages of accepting or rejecting the offer The Company often understands the fact that internship is a learning experience and that the intern needs some good resources to start working They assign a mentor specifically for the intern who is the main point of contact Although the technical skills are definitely evaluated other factors like communication skills and problem solving ability is the main expectation from an intern Both being independent and asking for help to avoid being struck are really important criteria During my summer internship at Amazon I had to write a self review to evaluate my strengths and weakness At the end of the internship my manger and mentor evaluated and gave their feedback regarding my self review From this experience I learnt that even though there were a couple of situations where I could not perform well the main expectation was to check my problem solving capability the way I approach a problem and the way I learn from my mistakes Being customer centric Deep Diving and the nature to learn and be curious were also some expectations Interns have the right to express all the concerns and opinion During the self review I was also given a chance to give feedback on my manager and peers The company also strives to make itself a better place to work So the feedback interns provide is also really necessary There are lots of meetings and one to ones held in order to check the progress and feedback This is the right time to express one s opinion and concerns
