Morgan Zimmer MGB 301“The Five-Stages Model” October 13, 2015My team, team Xpress, has experienced some of the stages in the “Five-Stage Model”. We definitely went through the forming stage when we were first given the group assignment forthis class. We exchanged phone numbers and created a group chat so that we were able to discussthe assignments we were given as a group. Especially for this assignment of presenting to the class. We were unsure of what to present, but we figured it out together and formed a plan for thepresentation. We skipped the storming stage. We did not come across any conflicts in regards to who wanted to take charge because we are all very easy going and are striving to do our best. Wewent right to the norming stage. Everyone in the group is on the same page and we all found the best time for everyone to meet as a group and work on assignments together. It is much easier to meet in person and collaborate than through a group chat. We are unified as a group and we have established our roles and norms for the group work. We are now at the performing stage. As a group, we will present to our class a slideshow about the “Five-Stage Model”. We efficiently worked together to create our presentation and will put our hard work into action. Therefore, my group went through the stages thus far as follows; forming, norming, and performing. In regards to norms that my group has established we have all agreed to communicate through group me and meet at specific times. We frequently meet the hour before we have class almost every time we have class because we are all available at that time. It is much easier for each individual to communicate and contribute in person. This way, if there is confusion it can beexplained. Another norm we have is understanding each group member is busy outside of school.I personally have two jobs and I work often. My group members understand that when they are communicating through group chat that I cannot always answer right away due to work. They understand and accept that I have to work. We all have different reasons for being busy outside of school and we all are accepting of one another. I think that this norm is very crucial and otherMorgan Zimmer MGB 301“The Five-Stages Model” October 13, 2015groups can learn to adapt this norm. With this norm, the storming stage can be avoided. Everyone in the group should be understanding and patient with one another so that negative conflict can be avoided and so regression does not occur. Because everyone in my group is very laid back and understanding, we all get along and are able to work together as a team. This affects our performance in a positive way. We think of ourselves as a group with a strong sense of purpose and strategy. With this way of thinking, we ca n rapidly achieve high performance andimprove over the course of this
