SurgeryCurrent Lecture-The central nervous system consists of the brain and spinal chord-The CNS interprets information and initiates responses-The Peripheral nervous system carries information out of the CNS into muscles, skin, glands, and organs.-Coronary Artery Disease happens when the arteries are clogged and hardened resulting in a heart attack and/or stroke.-Myocardial Infarction is the fancy term for heart attack.-Cerebral Infarction is the fancy term for stroke.-Angina is the pain you get when some part of the body isn't getting enough blood.-Hostility, competitiveness, and time urgency are psychological factors of CAD.-Hostile people are five times morel likely to have a heart attack because of higher blood pressure.-Stress produces more cholesterol which increases heart attack risk.-140/90 is very high blood pressure, hypertension.-Coronary bypass surgery is open heart surgery.-Beta blockers reduce heart rate.-Diuretics reduce fluid.-Vasodilators cause the arteries to open more.These notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture.
