HST 010 1st Edition Lecture 17Outline of Last Lecture The last lecture lecture talked about the Industrial Revolutions affects on the rest of the world including India, China, and the United States.Outline of Current Lecture This lecture is about The Communist Manifesto and the class discussion that happened with regards to the reading and the paper assigned.Current LectureCommunist Manifesto:Within the first few decades of the industrialization that occurred, there were many different reactions to the changing conditionsReactionaries, the left overs from the monarchy age want the movement to die, their socialism is wholly self interest relatedMarx and Engels could be considered environmentalists because they did not fight for the unsustainable growth of capitalism (were not actually though)Marx and Engels mean that when they say that they [bourgeoisie] have organized their “gravediggers”- Centralized the workers in cities- Angered the workers creating an environment prime for such revolt- Marx and Engels think that the workers revolution will end conflict and end historyo A stability will be reached and last forever- Religion was a function to keep people subjugated by making them think the next life will be better- Private Property and who has it is the fundamental condition for making this movement exist- Original meaning of minimum wage is the least amount of money that a person can live on- Labor Theory of Value (what give things their value is the labor put in them) John LockeThese notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture.
