Belinda Robnett:Formal v. Bridge Leaders Finds that in the Civil Rights movement, Formal leadership usually stuck in the roles of men By only focusing on the formal leaders, you can loose sight of the bridge leaders Those who bridge the link between formal leaders and the masses Roman Catholic priest Shortage Schoenherr: Full Pews and Empty Altars Noted that while membership was very high, the Catholic Church was facing a declining male priesthood because of celibacy Solution: Expanding role for women Ruth Wallace (1993): Catholic Women "Pastors: Second Vatican Council (1962 1965): Change in Canon (church) law‐ Expanding role for women and laity due to "dearth of priests" Second Wave of Feminism (1960s & 1970s): Expanding Role for Women in Society The study 20 Parishes Women Pastors: not "clergy" Experiences 1.
