We have 46 chromosomes. Before mitosis occurs we have 46 single chromosomes, during the s phase they double and split. Interphase includes centrosomes with centriole pairs, chromosomes that are duplicated and unpaired, nucleus, plasma membrane, and the nuclear envelope. Prophase you start to see the early mitotic spindle and two sister chromatids of the chromosomes. Metaphase the chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell.Anaphase the sister chromatids pull apart towards the centrosome of the cell. During telophase a cleavage furrow starts to form and the cell splits into two. The process of mitosis has evolved over the years. Prokaryotes did binary fission.
